Leadership Development

Great leadership goes deeper than strategy. It begins with knowing yourself. We help leaders develop the psychological foundation that makes everything else possible.

What It Is

Leadership Development at Dunthorne Psychological Services is a deeply personal process grounded in psychological science and built around who you are as a leader and who you are becoming. Most leadership coaching focuses on strategy, communication, and organizational behavior. We go deeper. We help executives, coaches, entrepreneurs, and organizational leaders develop the self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience that drive meaningful and lasting impact.

Who It Is For

This work is designed for leaders at every stage. From those just stepping into a leadership role for the first time to seasoned executives, coaches, and entrepreneurs leading at the highest levels, if you are serious about growing, this is the work for you. If you find yourself second-guessing your decisions under pressure, struggling to manage your emotions in high-stakes moments, feeling disconnected from the leader you want to be, or carrying the weight of your role in ways that are beginning to affect your well-being, we are here to help.

Common Concerns

The Dunthorne Difference

What sets our Leadership Development work apart is the foundation it is built on. Most leadership coaching stays at the surface, focusing on strategy, communication, and organizational behavior. At Dunthorne Psychological Services, we go deeper, helping leaders understand the patterns, habits, and beliefs that shape how they lead and how those can be refined, strengthened, and put to better use. Here is what that looks like in practice.

Evidence-Based Skill Development

Every strategy and approach we use in Leadership Development is grounded in psychological research and empirically supported methods. The skills we develop together — self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and effective communication — are not based on intuition or generic frameworks. They are informed by the latest science of human performance and psychological health and designed to produce real and lasting results.

The Collaborative Relationship

Meaningful leadership development does not happen in a lecture or a workshop. It happens in a genuine relationship built on trust, honesty, and a shared commitment to growth. We work alongside you rather than prescribing solutions from a distance. We explore your experience, listen carefully, and build something together that is grounded in your specific context, challenges, and goals.

Performance and Wellness Integration

Leadership at the highest level places real demands on your psychological health and well-being. We never treat leadership and well-being as separate conversations. We help leaders develop the skills to perform at their best while also addressing the emotional and psychological demands that sustained leadership places on a person over time. Both dimensions of your experience receive the same level of attention and care.

Centered on the Individual Person

No two leaders are the same, and no two engagements at Dunthorne Psychological Services are the same. Your leadership context, your industry, your team, and your personal history all shape who you are as a leader and what you need to grow. Our work is organized entirely around your specific situation, your goals, and where you are in your leadership journey. We build something that is genuinely yours, rather than adapted from a template, and the work evolves as you evolve.

Individual Sessions

Individual sessions at Dunthorne Psychological Services are designed to be focused, purposeful, and built around what you are working toward. Each session typically runs 50 minutes and is structured around your current goals, challenges, and progress. We begin by getting to know you. Understanding who you are, what you are navigating, and what success looks like for you specifically. From there, sessions are collaborative by nature, part reflection, part skill building, and part strategic planning, depending on where you are in the process. Most clients meet weekly or biweekly, though the cadence is always adjusted to fit your schedule and the demands of your professional life. The work does not stay in the session. You will leave each meeting with something concrete to take into your leadership environment, whether that is a skill to practice, a strategy to apply, or simply a clearer understanding of what is getting in the way.
